Nelumbo

The Lotus is an aquatic species that can be found throughout the world where the warm climate permits it. A symbol for wealth, prosperity and fertility, it is India’s national flower and is considered sacred in Buddhism. It is a resilient flower that can survive thousand of years and can revive itself after a period of dormancy or drought. Typical colours include pink and white, although other popular colours include blue and red.

Uses

Historically, the flower has been used for medicinal purposes including pain relief and alleviating muscle spasms.
